Established in 1972, Mayer Paint & Hardware is a locally owned independent paint and hardware store. A true mom & pop operation, Tom and Barb Green grew the business into a landmark in their native Rochester, NY. The store is now run by Tom Jr. and his wife Sara and is well known for it’s excellent service, the C.R.E.W. (Courteous, Responsible, Enthusiastic, Workers). A super store on a city block, Mayer has everything you need to get your job done and save you a trip to the dreaded big box stores. Very unfortunate. Great place and great customer service. A little more expensive than your big box stores, but I love to support local. I’ve disagreed with the face covering nonsense for over a year, but have complied. The CDC announced 2 days ago that vaccinated individuals do NOT need to wear face masks indoors any longer. I can no longer give my money to businesses that will ask me to put on a muzzle (that is no longer needed according to our government!) Before they ask me if I need help. Very disappointed.

Really helpful and friendly staff in a cozy store without the corporate feel.I have to knock off a star because I always have trouble finding where things are there. Maybe I’ll get it sorted eventually, but it’s a bit of a chaotic layout. The employees are great at helping you find things and providing advice if you need it though.
