Service and prices are worse then their 96th St store.

This store has overpriced plants, no customer service, and seems to go by the motto the customer is always wrong. After my unfortunate experience I purchased a beautiful tall lush floor plant at plants.com for half the price and free shipping.Poor value aside, i am still shaken by the most disturbing experience i had, summarized briefly here: I asked the clerk how long the mask mandate would be in effect, and she curtly and without looking up (mind you this was an empty store) said something to the effect of this is a private store, and we will lift it when we see fit. I then calmly asked her why she would not look up at me and she went into a frenzy. All she needed to say was Oh I’m sorry, i don’t know when the mandate will be lifted, but how can i help you today? Crisis averted.Instead, she told me to LEAVE THE STORE, and that She was working for minimum wage and I was harassing her!. Then her coworker took over (both refused to give their names but i included a photo of the one clerk videoing me.)As they continued yelling at me, not giving me time to respond, they CALLED THE POLICE! Lets hope the police have not been defunded, as if everyone called the police on their customers, NYC would be in trouble ;-). The officers arrived moments later. We spoke, and they were so nice and helpful and suggested that – although the store is legally allowed to throw customers out without reason – they wholeheartedly agreed how they treated me was clearly wrong, and suggested i call 311 to file a business complaint.I have a video of the tail end of the conversation with one of the clerks, which I am glad I took. Unbelievable and I am still shaken from this experience. I contacted the CEO – have not yet heard back.

PlantShed, both a coffee shop and a plant shop, a millennials dream am I right? Haha. All jokes aside, I think this place was worth a quick visit if you are in the area. Its not super large but they do make good use of the space and offer a pretty decent selection of houseplants staples/basics (like sansevieria and pothos) and a few trendy/cool plants (like Pink Princess Philodendron at $120 or neon pothos and rhaphidora tetrasperma). There is everything in between like succulents and fiddles and fresh cut flowers. Its not a large space so they were only allowing two to three customers at a time (which I appreciate) and didn’t try to be overbearing or overly friendly (I don’t think any acknowledged me when I came in but that’s ok).I didn’t look at their coffee menu or prices as I wasn’t looking for a drink at the time but it did smell nice. The store is sectioned off so if you want coffee you would have to go in from the outside. I’m not sure if that’s all the time or if they did this for pandemic reasons to regulate in and outs?It was a good quick visit and I purchased an alocasia polly to replace the one I have which isn’t doing too well. The more the merrier right? They wrapped it with some tissue paper and placed it into a decent sized paper bag with handles (convenient for if you are shopping for other things in the area).I was impressed they have several pink princess plants but at the $120 price point I was only going to window shop those!

I’m torn with this review. I love the coffee from this place and the staff are so nice! Its just such a shame that dogs are no longer permitted. With no windows to see out onto the street, I dont feel comfortable leaving my pooch out there while i grab my morning joe. Since i usually come here on my morning dog walk, I am not sure I will be coming back.
