More than a museum – The Rockwell is a unique community center where people enjoy, connect, and reflect on the essence of the American experience, character and values through the eyes of American artists. The Rockwell Museum is the only Smithsonian Affiliate in Upstate New York. Housed in the beautifully restored 19th- century Historic Old City Hall in Corning, New York, The Rockwell lays at the heart of the greater Finger Lakes fine arts community. Open every day, The Rockwell Museum welcomes the young and the young-at-heart to explore art. From gallery games to our Family Studio, The Rockwell is designed to make art accessible to kids, and inspire an appreciation for art at a young age.

Offers discounts for locals…great place for area residents to visit often! They have an awesome permanent collection of Western artwork, sculptures, Native American works and beautiful nature inspired paintings. Wonderful gift shop too (that you can shop at without paying the museum’s admission). Plus, they also offer an array of changing exhibitions. I especially like their annual Gingerbread Competition.

It’s a small museum with some wonderful art. Our small family went on a weekday at just about 4pm and we were able to just about take it all in before 5pm. I would recommend anyone going to give it about two hours at the least to really give it the time it deserves however. Our young son loved the scavenger hunt activity! We plan on going again whenever possible.
