We wanted to support local businesses so we went to Sid Hall Floors and we are happy with the final product. But most of all we were impressed with the responsiveness and attention given to our project by Michael from start to finish. I had an old carpet removed from our basement and scraped up two layers of old vinyl tiles; we wanted something to brighten up the basement and also keep the moisture down. Michael recommended the luxury vinyl tiles (Home Legend/Eagle Creek SPC) and these have totally changed the appearance and atmosphere of our basement. Michael was honest with his estimate of how much cement may be required to level our floor enough to install the tiles, and he gave us a price range so I would be prepared for the high end of the final cost. This was a reasonable way to do business and better than just being surprised later. The tile job was completed over the course of two days; the installation was done with great attention to detail, down to cutting small returns for the molding where it ended at corners in our basement (change from Ogee Wall Base to black vinyl strip around washer/dryer/sink area), and I’m sure most contractors wouldn’t have gone to that extra effort. First we did the floor, then, we did the carpet leading downstairs. I ripped off the old carpet to save labor costs, and the new carpet was put down. When I had a question about the final appearance of the carpet, Michael agreed to do some additional finishing work at no cost. Although this was honestly due to the irregularities of the walls and steps in my house and not due to the carpet installation, Michael volunteered to provide and install some molding to cover up a gap that had become more noticeable when we changed from the old dark carpet to the new lighter shade. I certainly wouldn’t expect most other contractors to offer to do this at no charge, but Michael could tell we weren’t just being picky – he knew we were happy with the basement tiles but not fully satisfied with the appearance of the stairwell, and he considered it part of his overall responsibility to finish the work to standard. Throughout the entire process, Michael was always available by email and phone, or by walking down to his shop. I was impressed to learn that Sid Hall has been around for 50 years serving the Bayside through Great Neck community, and I’m glad we went with them. Michael is a man of integrity and service; he did what he said he would do, on time. There were no hidden costs. He looked out for our health and safety as well as the aesthetic aspect of the project.

2020 could not possibly get any worse, until…..Had to redo our basement flooring after a flood. Sid Hall was recommended by a neighbor. Hands down one of the most pleasant experiences we have had. Michael is patient, knowledgeable and honest. Rare traits. He suggested this beautiful vinyl flooring. His guys came and installed within two days. Absolutely amazing job. We are so happy with the outcome. Michael doesn’t oversell anything. He really just wants the customer to be happy. We couldn’t be happier with our new flooring and with the amazing service. So glad to be able to use a family owned business as opposed to big box Home Depot or Lowe’s. We highly recommend Sid Hall flooring.
