Alling Coverlet Museum

  4.5 – 14 reviews   • Museum

One of Historic Palmyra’s five museums, the Alling features the largest collection of American hand woven coverlets in the United States. It is named for Mrs. Merle Alling, Rochester, New York resident and coverlet collector, and is housed in a 1901 newspaper printing office. All styles of hand woven coverlets from 1820 to 1880 are represented in an extraordinary collection, which takes over six years to rotate through public display. The collection also includes a Quilt Room, looms, spinning wheels, and other assorted weaver’s tools. The Alling Gift Shop features woven goods, books, puzzles, and unique gift items.

One of a series of Palmyra six museums. It’s a blast of History As Told by the guides at the venue. It’s like pirate treasure unassuming on the outside put inside the box treasure
Lorraine Davis (Goddess Lorraine)
Very nice and quaint museum. Did a ghost tour, but didn’t see any ghosts.
