Best bookstore in Texas! Felton Cochran is one of a kind, a Texas treasure.

This is a well-organized, wonderful bookshop, with an array of books on Texas I have never seen anywhere else. They range from rare editions to new paperbacks. Apart from the extensive Texas selection, there are some hard-to-find children’s books and shelves of elegant leather bound classics. And the owner, Felton Cochrane, is so helpful and knowledgeable. This is how bookshops should be. A real pleasure to visit and a delight to come away with some fascinating books.

It’s a book store.Between the odd little neighborhood, there is a healer, a museum and a couple of gift shop and clothing places, there is this terrific place. If you are a fan of Texas history this is your spot. And there is that weird cactus thing kitty corner across the street.Old country histories,a real selection of Elmer Keton novels several copies of The Longhorns the one with Tom Lea’s mural as the dust jacket art. I think one edition is circa 1953, maybe?BTW the original Tom Lea’s mural is now on display in the Ellen Noel gallery at UTPB. Great piece of art. Difficult to capture in one photo.Anyway, back to the book shop. I was able to get a Texas bird guide I wanted. Anyway this is a great stop for bibliophiles, and particular the Texas variety.

Wonderful selection of Texas History books and tons of signed first editions of classics as well.
