I came in today (Christmas Eve) to do some last minute gift shopping and Steven (mgr?) told me I was required to wear a mask to be inside the store. I informed him that I was medically exempt and that Governor Abbott’s order made an exception for those of us with a medical condition. He said that he understood but that it was the corporate policy of The Container Store that everyone wear a mask while shopping. That’s a terrible policy—why would you restrict your customers’ liberties any more than you absolutely had to? It’s obvious to me that we are not a country of laws at all anymore with the way these businesses violate the Americans with Disabilities Act as a matter of policy.I would like to say for the record that Steven was extremely courteous and respectful during our brief interaction. He was professional and patient—he let me voice my arguments without trying to interrupt me. He seemed like a nice guy. He gets 5 stars even though TCS gets only one. About the only bad thing I could say about him is that he’s an order-follower. If you’ve studied history you know that order-followers are more dangerous than any virus. Wake up America!
