When I was stationed at Fort Sam Houston, TX back in 2000, I would visit El Vasquero for my boots, hat, etc.. As I recall, the owners are a husband and wife Team.When I was getting boots, the husband worked with me for at least an hour to break them in. He rubbed the inside of the boot with a wet washcloth, had me but the boots back on and walk around the store for a bit, then checked the fit. Though I currently have boots that are much more expensive than that pair, I can’t say that I have ever had a pair that fit as nicely.I ordered a duster from him. When it came in a few weeks later, he sent it back because the quality wasn’t up to his standard. He ordered a more expensive one and didn’t charge me the difference.Though I live in South Carolina now, I still recommend El Vasquero to anyone that will be in the area.

As local as you can get with quality and service! Our experience there was like visiting an old friend. Mike has been running his business for over 30 years. He works hard and gives honest products. We traveled to Texas to get an authentic cowboy hat, and got what we wanted here! Mike had a great selection for us to choose from. He adjusted the hat so it fit perfectly on my boyfriend and educated us on caring for the hat. My boyfriend loves his hat and wears it all the time…almost too much time for me to handle!Support local business owners like this one. We highly recommend him! If we ever return to San Antonio we will definitely come back for a visit to you and your shop. We are very happy customers.Thank you Mike!
