I have known Art Greenhaw, and this place McWhorter Greenhaw, since the summer of 1991. Back then this was known as little Neiman Marcus. It had everything you could want, almost, and all at the highest of quality. Years before, Art and his Dad received commendations from then President Jimmy Carter as leaders in the Small business community.Since 1991, Art became a producer of the Light Crust Doughboys, and led them to many Grammy nominations and two wins.The store has changed its face as renters utilized its capacity, thus allowing Art more time for his musical craft. But it is closely linked to what was once the Mesquite Opry just kitty corner to it, where LeAnn Rimes as a girl and many others appeared. Janet McBride was the host, and Art the leader of the band and overall stage coordinator.In an effort to make Mesquite great again, there are even more changes coming to McWhorter-Greenhaw. Its location is technically known as Heritage Square. What an exciting place to be, as this is deemed an official historical place by the State of Texas!

Allow us to explain why this historic building est. 1890s is currently as of Summer 2019 not operating as a business center/collaborative space/co-working center. Downtown Mesquite, TX as of Jan. 2019 has been named an official Texas Main St. Downtown by State of Texas agencies. Extensive work is beginning in Downtown Mesquite to address neglected infrastructure, water-sewer-gas-electric-streets-parking-pavement, which hasn’t been fully addressed in 70 years, and work is beginning to address drainage problems on City-owned property and easements and right-of-ways behind this building and in front of this building. This building will soon be back in full operation as a centerpiece and landmark of Downtown Mesquite, and the building will be restored and rebuilt to honor its past glories from the 1890s onward.
