Excellent museum – appreciated that if connected the past with what we see today (which isn’t always the case with civil rights stuff). Very powerful – I spent 5 hours. Even though tickets are free, it’s worth paying a donation to support this important work.

Have been wanting to visit this Memorial/ Museum since they opened in 2018. So glad we finally made it. Make time to spend the day visiting all the locations (there are 4, although only 3 are open at this time).The Museum can take 1 hour plus to go through. Basically one room broken into sections so maintaining social distancing is a bit difficult but everyone is very aware. Temperature checks taken, and disposable gloves given upon entering. The bookstore is 2 doors down and is wonderful.The Pavilion is currently being added to so is closed. Will have to keep tabs on when it will be reopened.The Memorial is a long walk with plenty of resting places so pace yourself. Staff are wonderful. So very helpful and informed so ask if you have any questions at all.The Center is across the street from the Memorial and repeats some of the videos from the Museum.I became overwhelmed by the absolute number and the reasons for oppressing a whole race of people who are US citizens! It made me so sad and angry.It also made me realize that our government has never made a formal apology to our Native American nor African American people. Without recognition of wrong doing then there can be no healing and no recompense. Our children are still not learning the truth of our history, so are they doomed to repeat it?
