The shopkeeper was unbelievably rude. I walked in just before 4pm on a Sunday. The store was open and I did not see any clear signage indicating its hours. As I entered, the shopkeeper said, “We are closing soon.” I took that to mean “look quickly, but we are still open” because she did not lock the door or change any signs. Maybe 60 seconds later, she barked, Are you looking for something in particular because I really want to close! I was taken aback by her disrespectful tone and uncommercial manner and walked out immediately. Imagine my surprise when I walked by the store 20 minutes later to find her still sitting in the same spot, with the lights on and no sign of being closed.

The women at the register opened the door for me and told me to wait, her dog greeted me at the door and was absolutely adorable. As I waited she spoke on the phone then told me she needed me not stand in the door and told me to leave. I left. And I will never return again. That poor dog.

Whenever we come to Sag Harbor, we sincerely ALWAYS stop here. Lovely little store with fantastic finds. The owner is a character and we like chatting with her (and hanging out with her sweet little dog Spencer) – but even better, we like leaving with treasures.
