Awesome Japanese grocery store. It includes fresh vegetables, meat, fish, & seasoning & cooking ingredients. You can also find a variety of frozen foods, rice, instant noodles, & canned meals. Mitsuwa has alcoholic drinks like beer, sake, mixed drinks etc., and has a large variety of juices, sodas, yogurt drinks, & sparkling waters. In the same building to the side you can also find the Kinokuniya bookstore & food court that both have a great selection of their own products. If you are in the neighborhood & are looking to get specifically Japanese products then Mitsuwa Marketplace is where you want to go. I recommend it, check it out!

If you’re used to fresh veggies and fish and the larger mitsuwas in CA and NJ, you won’t like it here :Overpriced and / or not fresh veggies :Green onion .99 / bunch.Old mung bean sprouts .79-1.29 ( all sprouts had brown ends even though expiration date was 2 days away)Persian ( soft at the tips) cucumbers 2.99/ pound.Regular groceries was standard – expensive price :Miso 3.99-5.99Soba noodles 5.99Small sesame oil 5 oz. 3.99Tweezers $8Bonita flakes 1.9926 grams anchovies 3.50!!!!10 sheets seaweed $3.100 sheets was $10.I found no local made tofu. Tofu sale price was only 1.99.Proteins:No meat for sale. Only pork on the shelves.Only wild fish is halibut. All the other fish is farmed fish from far away countries. Ex=farmed Scottish salmon = $14 for two people. Or Vietnamese farmed shrimp.To-go sushi area :Futomaki ,tuna salmon and cucumber rolls. I didn’t buy it Bc I know I will get sick. ( fridge didn’t feel cold/ 40 degrees) The avocado was browning in every roll. The tuna roll’s rice had turned brown next to the tuna. They had cutlet bowls and bulgogi bowls which looked fresher. Rice was 1.99 and kept cold.

This store is full of delicious authentic Japanese ingredients and food. The grocery side has tons of items to choose with English translation a on the tags. The other end with the book store and restaurants is also fantastic. The food we have tried from the restaurants so far has been excellent and a great value at the price. It’s worth a visit to try something new. I recommend the calbee hot and spicy chips. The right amount of heat and tons of flavor!
