I have to admit I’m a little surprised to see all of the glowing reviews about the customer service at this store after my experiences with Karaz Shoes. If I were rating the quality of the shoes they carry- 5 stars all the way. However, the female owner of the store has a long way to go with her customer service skills before I can rate this any higher (I only gave this 3 stars because her husband is very knowledgeable and my past experiences with him have been more respectful and helpful). For reference, I’m the kind of person who makes a point to “shop small” whenever possible and support local businesses instead of Zappo’s or Amazon. I was actually prepared to order some specific shoes through this store today if they didn’t have them in person because I knew they carried the brand. However, when I asked to try on a pair, she handed me 1 shoe to try on (which I found odd since most people’s feet vary slightly and shoes can fit differently) and walked away. She could clearly see I came in wearing sandals, and instead of handing me a ped to try it on when she gave me the shoe in the first place, she slapped the basket of them down a few minutes later and said, “You know, you really should wear a ped to try those on”, as if I carry some around in my purse. I was so turned off by the way I was treated (despite previously having spent hundreds of dollars in this store on Taos shoes and boots, Uggs, Dansko, and Pikolinos… I was ironically wearing a pair of Danskos I had previously purchased there when this transpired) that I no longer feel compelled to purchase through this store rather than Nordstrom’s or Zappo’s. If you want to compete with online retailers, then create a welcoming environment in your store instead of acting like I’m inconveniencing you when I need basic customer service.

I’ve been a loyal Karaz customer for years! If I need classy shoes for a special occasion, comfortable shoes for work, warm, sturdy boots for walking the dog, or just something fabulous for fun, Neil and Claire always find the perfect pair for my imperfect feet.
