I’ve been to different locations of Summit Bicycles a couple of times and my experience has always been the same. They just try to sell you stuff! Expensive stuff that you don’t need. If you are not 100% sure what you want to buy, they will most probably take advantage of the fact. Services are overpriced. I got tricked into paying $60 for the placement of new tires on my bike, which I can do myself but the guy asked “do you want to try these tires”. At first I thought it was great they were letting me try the tires before I buy them. Oh boy was I wrong. If you are willing to drive to Santa Cruz – Epicenter is a great bike shop where a tune up is $40 cheaper than at Summit 🙂

I took my super 73 S1 to Summit to be built as the bike needs assembly. It’s and expensive bike and didn’t trust myself to build the bad boy. At summit they were super nice and friendly. the cost was 120 (which is around the same price other bike shops quoted) to build the bike but they also made sure to have it tuned and test rode it for 3 miles to make sure it was safe. They had it done within the day for me. Highly recommend.
