This store is neat and clean, the staff is helpful and the pharmacists are always willing to educate and advise me regarding my medications as well as over-the-counter remedies.

Denied medication by “Helen Kelien”Yesterday, I went to pick up a medication for a learning disorder that is a controlled substance, but not a narcotic, and was denied the ability to do so by pharmacist “Helen Kelien”, and older Asian American woman (incase she gave me the wrong name), because she believed “I was not an adult” granted that I showed my ID which stated that I was 20-years old. According to the policy, medication can be picked up by those who are adults, at least 18-years old, but Helen’s “personal idea of an adult” granted her the ability to deny my medication, until I had to return home and send my mother to talk to her.I have been picking up the same medication, previously in higher dosages, from this specific Rite Aid since I was 17-years old and have never faced an issue such as this before.I was told that since “she did not know me” and “didn’t think I was old enough to be an adult” that she wasn’t able to sell me MY medication.I’m not sure why it is that a pharmacist’s “personal perspective” should be allowed to override the policy that would otherwise allow me to pick up my medication, and all I can do is hope that it had nothing to do with the fact that I am a short-haired natural African American woman, although my family and I strongly believe that was the reasoning.
