I’m writing this to tell everyone that I’m fed up not only with the Broadway Goodwill but with everything on Broadway. I’ve been coming to Goodwill since the first day it reopened and I’ve buying a lot of different things. But it never occurred to me that in order NOT to be humiliated by the Goodwill employees by having the bag you’re about to buy searched, because I dare to think of my physical safety first and foremost after being attacked in broad daylight by a crazy homeless person a year ago at the bus stop on the corner of El Camino and Broadway and for the first time in my life consciously DRESSING DOWN and trying to attract as little unwanted attention as possible, YOU SHOULD WEAR VERSACE AND CARRY PRADA WHILE SHOPPING AT…GOODWILL!!! But what’s even more unprofessional, common and totally unacceptable is the fact that the employee in question was actually TAUGHT by his manager that what he did was acceptable behavior! I tried to call Goodwill and talk to the manager but ( what a surprise ) nobody came to the phone. I’ve shopped at Goodwill in San Mateo and at St. Vincent de Paul in Redwood City and I bought pocketbooks galore but nobody ever tried to imply that I might put a piece of jewelry into the bag and not tell the cashier it’s there. After having been a Red Flower at Bloomies and Steinbachs in New York, I always double check to make sure the cashier didn’t make a mistake in my favor! And I’m a potential thief! Like someone in THE PRINCESS BRIDE would have said, Inconceivable! . But it happened just half an hour ago and it was real.
