Please ignore the reviews that talk about homeless activity and are negative. This is the most wonderful, amazing pool in California. It never closes, its free. During covid I drove 2 hrs each way to take 4 miserable kids to swim. It was a life saver. Closed one day a week for cleaning- no moss or algae. Lifeguards only during the summer. Water can be cold.

Also known as One Mile Recreation area because it is one mile from John And Annie Bidwell’s house. Favorite hangout for locals. People come to walk and enjoy the water. In the summer people swim all hours to escape the heat.

This is just incredible! Due to the pandemic this pool is great because it’s very wide and you’d have plenty of space to social distance. We went on a very hot, humid day and the water wasn’t too cold, it was just right. It was very cooling and enjoyable. There was lots of shade as well, very nice. Although the public bathrooms were horrendous, very old and shabby, no mirrors either, it looked like they haven’t been cared for in my opinion. Besides that I wish I had know about this place the first time I visited California. It was very enjoyable and fun~!
