can’t opine about the automotive services performed at this business, but I can speak about the awful location and bad character of the owner of this business. David’s Place is in the absolute worst place possible, if you need to tow your car there. There is no choice but to park in a no parking zone on busyThousand Oaks Blvd., to unload your vehicle. The shop is located at the end of double left turn lanes as you round the corner. I was involved in an accident with a UHaul truck with a trailer that had just dropped off a vehicle, and parked in a no parking zone. He pulled out in front of me, and caused 10K damage to my car. It seems a difficult angle to effectively pull a towed vehicle into his driveway, so many cars are unloaded on the street, in a no parking zone. When the Sheriff showed up to take reports from the parties involved in the accident, David, (owner of David’s Place) aggressively interjected himself in the incident, acted as a witness. He did his very best to convince the Sheriff that the accident was my fault. The Sheriff remarked to me; Both you and the driver of the UHaul are both very calm…the only party that’s agitated here is the witness . She air quoted witness. She mentioned that she felt perhaps he was trying to protect his customer. I think his attempted deceit was self serving. I don’t think he wanted to take any responsibility for not advising his customer not to unload his car in front of his shop…a no parking zone. My bet would be that other incidents similar in nature, happened there before. He told me that I was going pretty fast as the accident occurred. I was rounding a turn, following other vehicles in front of me. How fast could I have been going? In my opinion, this makes him a liar. The insurance company quickly determined this to be a no fault accident on my part. His customer was of course responsible for the accident. I pass this shop on the way to my gym. Now that I’m unfortunately aware of his place of business, I pay attention, and notice trucks and trailers illegally parked, unloading vehicles where my accident occurred. I will be reporting this business to the city of Thousand Oaks about this hazardous condition.
