My appendix ruptured on a Saturday evening. Instead of flying me to Renown in Reno that night after the CT showed the bowel leak they loaded me up with morphine and kept me in the ER. Twelve hours later they had the medical team assembled to perform my surgery. But, the bowel contents that had spread through my abdominal cavity caused an infection that kept me there for 17 days. I was 66 years old then and urgent care was necessary. It’s all about the cost! And making money, of course.I want to add that the two doctors who came in the following Monday and oversaw my care were great. Dr. P and Dr. K 0ne did mention that he had repeatedly told his residents that Banner Lassen hospital is not equipped to handle such emergency cases as mine. There’s no ICU which I very well may have needed. Several times the Dr.s informed me that if my condition didn’t improve I would have to be transferred to a better equipped facility. Fortunately, I did improve and get to go home, not a care facility in Susanville. A fate worse than death I’m willing to bet, judging by the pathetic hospital!!

ER staff rude. Unprofessional. I was in crisis and the staff laughed at me. I am a Veteran. Have had to call the billing Dept. many times to correct billing issues to VA. Hope this helps.
