Oceanside’s Pier is the west coast’s longest wooden pier at 1,942 feet. It was first built in 1888 and the current pier opened in 1987 & is the sixth one built. The pier swim was established in 1929 and continues to this day on Labor Day. The Oceanside Pier is one the most photographed landmarks in San Diego County.

This is one of my most favorite places to visit when in Oceanside! People from all walks of life are fishing along the length of the pier. Much of that days bounty will end up on dinner plates tonight. There is a cute bait store in the middle of the pier that also has snacks, souvenirs, coffee and hot chocolate for chilly mornings. It is also the perfect place to watch the surfers catch a wave and maybe spot a harbor seal or dolphins, too. Come find a bench and stay awhile!
