Positive: Cleanliness, Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, Value First time getting a real cut in over a year, and man it’s was worth it. Ricky was super cool and chill, and gave me the best cut I’ve ever gotten. Everything is super clean and and everyone is masked up. A+, s/o Ricky for bringing me back to life !

About a year ago during my previous heavy use of social media, I stumbled upon my highschool friend’s (Ricky) post on IG regarding his and his brother Isaias’ grand opening of their new own barbershop (1920 Barbershop)… although it’s been many moons that Ricky and I have actually talked aside from the typical ‘likes’ and/or ‘comments’ on social media platforms, I was still very proud to see their accomplishments knowing that they’ve been in the barbering industry working for other barbershops for quite awhile. Due to my employment status with various jobs and also during my time in the military, I had been in and out of the 925 Concord area and state and also moved away from the 925, in which resulted in me having to find a barbershop closer to my location(s). As I was already living in Alameda and as soon as things settled with my regular job and transitioning out of military work, I decided to make an appointment with the shop to kill two birds with one stone — simply say ‘hello’ and catch up with the brothers that I’ve friended since highschool (Ricky and Isais Huerta), and of course, stop by and support them by opting in for one of their gentlemen’s cut services. MAN WAS I BLOWN AWAY! It really is the best feeling ever to receive a great ‘fresh’ cut, especially in a timely manner — but… the VIBE of the shop including the Huerta brothers and the other fellow barbers and their clients…. definitely a great time! They’ve got great taste in music (chill vibes, in which now being in my 30s, I’ve transitioned to a much more ‘chiller’ state of mind haha), provide water/coffee, great hair products for almost every type o hair (and mind you, it’s hard for a Filipino like me to find some good product to produce the hairstyle(s) I want due to the type of hair we have!), awesome atmosphere with a definite ‘1920s’ vibe mixed with a little modern stuff, great conversations (aka ‘therapy’ hehe), and GREAT SERVICE OVERALL! Since then, I’ve been coming to the shop every time I needed a cut, despite now residing in Alameda. Why? Because not only are these guys my highschool friends, the Huerta brothers AND their staff know how to work around my type of hair and understand the different ‘cuts/styles’ I mention to them despite the way I explain to them not being ‘barbering technical terms’ — they follow through with a I GOTCHU. statement, but also follow through in real time, producing the type of quality I like and love. I am also very proud of the way they handle the post quarantine lockdown situation, in which they’ve got signs all over the front door mentioning and showcasing the COVID-19 rules/workaround while being in the shop and receiving a cut/service — MASKS ON upon entering and also a temperature check right then and there! Great job, 1920 Barbershop! ✂
